If turning your company into a lean, efficient, clean running company was easy, then everyone would do it. Every business would run more professionally without waste and continue to save revenue while producing excellent parts. But it isn’t easy, it takes effort and if it wasn’t difficult, then it would not be known as work. The point is that any company can run lean and develop into an efficient machine that consumes less and produces more, but it will take some effort, a lot of time and a dedication to change. It takes the motivation to change, to adjust and to identify what works and what does not work. One of the most difficult things about change is really admitting that there has to be change and if you are ready to try, to move towards something superior, then the first step is taken. And whilst the acceptance and identifying the necessity for change is great and very vital, it doesn’t mean that the work is over. The first thing to grasp is that waste comes in lots of forms and there are such things as necessary waste and that there isn’t a to eliminate it completely. You have to recognize the diverse areas that you will want to change and search for the largest opportunities for success. Where is the largest waste and what sorts of changes can be made? Next you will have to ask the question of whether or not the changes will make a big enough difference. Will the changes implemented be cost efficient? In other words, will all the work that you are going to put toward altering the method or the system be worth it in the end? You could make an educated guess or just a guess in order to decide. Or you can go ahead and implement the changes and trust it all works out in the end.

The very best way is to create a plan and map out the changes, taking measurements and figuring calculations and estimates of how the changes will affect the method. This way, you will be able to make an even more educated guess and speculate what you anticipate will happen during your presentation to whomever will be making the final call on the implementation of change. That is the only method that the changes will be approved and accepted. You must encourage those opposed or hesitant of the worth of the changes that they are needed in order to grow and contend in the marketplace. You can only do this if you have proof that the changes will be helpful and that there is a plan in place to get you there. There is a way to construct these map and to get the most ideas for your cash. You have to include more than just those that are in charge. Once you have shown that there is a plan and that the changes will succeed if carried out the way they are drawn up, it is time to begin on the final changes.
