If making your company into a lean, efficient, clean running organization was simple, then everyone would do it. Every business would run more effortlessly sans waste and continue to save money while producing quality products. But it isn’t easy, it takes hard work and if it wasn’t tedious, then it would not be referred to as work. The issue is that any business can run lean and develop into an efficient machine that uses less and makes more, but it will take some effort, a lot of time and a dedication to change. It takes the motivation to improve, to adjust and to identify what works and what doesn’t work. One of the most tricky parts about change is really admitting that there has to be change and if you are ready to try, to work towards something superior, then the first step is taken. And whilst the acceptance and identifying the necessity for change is valiant and very important, it doesn’t mean that the job is over. The first thing to understand is that waste comes in many forms and there are certain things as obligatory waste and that there isn’t a to remove it completely. You have to spot the different areas that you will want to change and search for the major opportunities for success. Where is the most substantial waste and what varieties of changes can be created? Then you will have to pose the question of whether or not the changes will make a big enough difference. Will the changes completed be cost effective? In other words, will all the work that you are going to put toward altering the process or the system be worth it in the end? You could make an educated guess or just a guess in order to decide. Or you can go forward and make the changes and trust it all works out in the end.

The greatest way is to draw out a plan and plan out the variations, taking measurements and making calculations and estimates of how the changes will change the method. This way, you will be able to make an even more educated guess and deduce what you think will happen throughout your presentation to whomever will be making the final decision on the implementation of change. That is the only method that the changes will be approved and received. You must convince those opposed or unsure of the usefulness of the changes that they are needed in order to develop and contend in the marketplace. You can only do this if you have proof that the changes will be helpful and that there is a map in place to get you there. There is a way to build these plans and to get the most ideas for your buck. You have to involve more than just those that are in management. Finally, once you have shown that there is a plan and that the changes will succeed if carried out the way they are drawn up, it is time to start on the actual changes.
